Meet the Founders


A Madrid native, Javier brings a passion for fine Spanish wine and cuisine to Tempranillo’s expansive menu. Upon coming to America in 1987, Javier blended his talents for spanish cooking with inventive nouveau italian cuisine at Manhattan’s Mezzaluna restaurant. Javier led the expansion of a new Mezzaluna in Aspen 25 years ago and has remained in the valley ever since. Javier is the long standing spanish wine representative for Food and Wine magazine and has participated in the Aspen Food and Wine classice for 20 years. Javier resides with his wife Laura and their two children at their ranch in Missouri Heights.
